New play structure to bring families together

Cumberland Ward City Councillor Stephen Blais is proud break ground on the refurbishment of another park in rural Cumberland.

“We are continuing the investments and momentum we have been building since 2010,” says Councillor Blais.  “The new play structures bring vibrancy and amenities for families who have been using the same old equipment for decades.”

Bella Vista Park is a small parkette nested in one of Cumberland most sought after and quiet neighbourhoods. Located at 1541 Carino Crescent, it is 1.23 Hectares in size and is designated a dogs on leash park. Councillor Blais secured the $170,000 needed to refurbish the park.  In 2018, residents provided feedback on two concepts before the final design was selected.

“Ensuring vibrant parks has been a priority of mine since day one,” adds Blais. “Residents provided great feedback on the design of the upgrade. We heard from neighbours that they felt this will bring the community back together and provide a new place for their children to play outdoors.”

The renewal project will replace the existing play equipment which has reached the end of its useful life and create an accessible route to reach the play area. Construction work on site has started, with completion aimed for mid-summer.
