Blais delivers new Orléans fire station

Safety greatly improved as east end expands

Stephen is pleased to announce a new Fire Station, located on Portobello Blvd. (beside the expanded Francois Dupuis Recreation Centre) is now open.

"The last fire station built in Orléans was in the early 1990's," says Blais. "I'm happy to deliver this $7 million dollar investment that will help to ensure the safety of our families and our homes for the next few decades."

Station 55 includes a pumper truck and is fully staffed at 16 personnel. The station is also designed to be energy efficient and sustainable for evolving needs.

"Ottawa Fire Services is pleased to have the new Station 55 open today," says Fire Chief Gerry Pingitore. "This station will ensure our Service provides the appropriate resources to meet the needs of our communities and remains aligned with international best practice".

An official opening to welcome the new fire station will also take place in the coming months. This will include a tour of the new fire station and a small display of the equipment our heroes use.

"Fire stations are an essential part of our community's social fabric that help residents feel more comfortable knowing that when a fire occurs, professional help is now right around the corner," adds Blais. "I know first-hand that Ottawa Fire Services saves lives by providing a variety of rescues - not just fighting fires."
